Frank McCourt Announces Search for New Investors for Olympique Marseille
Frank McCourt, the American owner of French club Olympique Marseille, has confirmed his intention to begin the search for new financial investors to ensure the club's future growth and development. He explained that the time is right to launch this process with the aim of elevating the team to higher competitive levels, noting that achieving desired aspirations will require additional investment in the upcoming phase.
As part of his efforts to develop the team, the French club's owner stressed his desire to find the appropriate strategic partner who can contribute to achieving ambitious growth objectives.
Frank McCourt stated: "I believe this is the right time to start this process because I truly want Marseille to move to the next level." He added that reaching the highest sporting levels will necessarily require supplementary financial resources to meet fan expectations and compete strongly in major tournaments.
In this regard, McCourt indicated his preference not to disclose precise details about the nature of ongoing discussions or the names of parties interested in investing in the southern club. He said: "We want to find the right strategic partner to achieve this, and it is still too early to say more. We are in the process of thinking and organizing, but we have this mindset." This move comes as the management seeks to enhance the financial solvency of the club, which is currently experiencing tangible improvements in its technical results.
Regarding sporting results, the team currently sits third in the French League, two points ahead of pursuers Lyon and Lille. Frank McCourt has owned the club since autumn 2016 and is currently aiming to secure a Champions League spot for next season to solidify Marseille's position as one of France's leading football powers.
