Raphinha Sidelined for 5 Weeks, Misses Atletico Madrid Champions League Ties
Barcelona star Raphinha has sustained a new muscle injury while on international duty with Brazil, the Catalan club confirmed on Friday.
A statement released by Barcelona indicated that the player is experiencing pain in his right thigh. This occurred after he was substituted at half-time during Brazil's friendly match against France, necessitating precise medical examinations to determine the nature and severity of the injury.
According to the examinations and Barcelona's announcement, the injury affects the hamstring muscle, the same area Raphinha has struggled with previously. This raises concerns within the club about a potential recurrence and its impact on his readiness during the crucial phase of the season.
Barcelona further stated that Raphinha will return to Spain for treatment and is expected to be sidelined for five weeks. This comes as a significant blow to the team, as they will miss their star player in several important matches, most notably against Atlético Madrid in La Liga next Saturday (April 4), followed by both legs of the Champions League quarter-final against the same opponent.
If Raphinha's recovery proceeds positively, the 29-year-old is anticipated to return to action for "El Clásico" against Real Madrid, scheduled for May 10, as part of Week 35 of the Spanish League.
