Officially: FIFA Raises Morocco's Points in Rankings, Considers Senegal to Have Forfeited AFCON Final
The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has made an adjustment to the national team rankings, following a decision by the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) Appeals Committee. This decision ruled to strip Senegal of the Africa Cup of Nations title and award it to the Moroccan national team.
The latest update on FIFA's website shows that Morocco's points have increased to 1754.59 points, up from their January ranking of 1736.57 points. However, their position in the rankings remains unchanged, staying at eighth place.
FIFA decided to change the status of the Africa Cup of Nations final match, considering the Moroccan national team the winner by withdrawal. This decision is based on CAF's ruling issued a week ago.
In a related development, the Senegalese Football Federation decided to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to challenge the decision to strip them of the title and consider them withdrawn from the AFCON 2025 final.
