Senegal Football Federation to Appeal to CAS After Title Awarded to Morocco
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has announced its intention to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeals Committee. The CAF committee ruled that the Senegalese national team forfeited its match against Morocco with a 3-0 defeat.
This decision came after the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) successfully appealed an earlier ruling concerning a match between the two sides in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The initial judgment by the Disciplinary Committee was annulled due to a procedural violation, before the Appeals Committee subsequently confirmed Senegal's forfeiture of the encounter.
The Senegalese Federation described the ruling as “unjust and unprecedented,” emphasizing that it damages the reputation of African football. This conviction has led the FSF to escalate the matter to the highest international sports arbitration body.
The FSF confirmed it would initiate appeal procedures before CAS as soon as possible, seeking to overturn CAF's decision, and pledged to keep the public informed of all developments in the case.
