Exclusive: CAF Judicial Body President Dismissed Amid AFCON Final Disciplinary Controversy
An official source within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed to "El Botola" an important decision officially issued by CAF Secretary-General, Congolese Veron Mosengo-Omba, last Saturday.
The source stated that Djiboutian Yacine Othman Robleh, who served as the President of the Judicial Bodies within CAF, has been dismissed after six years of working in the disciplinary committees and investigations conducted by the CAF Disciplinary Committee.
Information indicates that the reason for the dismissal is the controversy CAF has faced following the disciplinary decisions taken by the Confederation after the events of the Africa Cup of Nations final match between Morocco and Senegal.
The CAF Executive Committee had previously chosen Togolese Cédric Igay to currently serve as the Director of Legal Affairs, and it appears the decision is to temporarily promote him to replace Djiboutian Yacine Othman.
The Secretary-General's decision at that time came to delay the issuance of new decisions expected to be announced by the Disciplinary Committee, especially after the disciplinary body held several hearings last Thursday to investigate the files of various matches, most notably the one involving Egypt's Al Ahly and Morocco's AS FAR.
Once a replacement for the former Djiboutian head of judicial bodies is settled upon in the coming hours, many disciplinary files concerning numerous teams and matches will be resolved.
