Bayern Munich Criticizes Bundesliga Refereeing Standards, Calls for Improvement
Jan-Christian Dreesen, CEO of Bayern Munich, has criticized the refereeing standards in recent Bundesliga matches, particularly following his team's encounter with Bayer Leverkusen, which saw player Luis Diaz sent off.
The Bavarian official stated that his club frequently faces questionable refereeing decisions and issued a clear call to the German Football Association (DFB) to enhance the efficiency of referees and avoid errors that affect the fairness of competition in the domestic league.
In this context, Bayern Munich announced its intention to appeal Luis Diaz's red card after referee Christian Dingert admitted to making an error in that decision during the match. Despite the club's management welcoming the referee's stance and his admission of error, Dreesen emphasized that this alone is not enough to compensate for the loss of two points in that fixture.
Jan-Christian Dreesen stated, "The German Football Association bears the responsibility for improving the level of its referees. Christian Dingert's admission of his mistake is honorable, but this alone does not help us."
The CEO also described the events of the Leverkusen match as the culmination of a period during which the club has repeatedly faced questionable refereeing decisions recently. Dreesen affirmed that the club is closely monitoring developments in recent weeks to ensure its rights are preserved.
Jan-Christian Dreesen said, "We are following recent events with concern. The Leverkusen match was the culmination of a phase during which we repeatedly encountered inaccurate decisions."
