French League Reschedules Paris FC vs. Monaco Match Due to Paris Marathon
The French Professional Football League (LFP) has announced the rescheduling of the match between Paris FC and Monaco, part of the 29th round of the domestic competition. In an official statement published on Thursday, March 12, the LFP clarified that the fixture, originally set for Sunday, April 12, 2026, has been brought forward to Friday, April 10, at 7:00 PM French time, to be played at the Stade Jean Bouin.
This adjustment to the league schedule comes in response to a request from the security directorate in the French capital. The aim is to avoid any organizational conflict with the Paris Marathon, whose route passes near Stade Jean Bouin. This proximity prompted security authorities to request a time change to ensure the safety and smooth running of both sporting events.
The French Professional Football League stated, "Following a request from the security directorate and due to the organization of the Paris Marathon, the Paris FC vs. Monaco match, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026, has been brought forward to Friday, April 10, at 7:00 PM. The match will be broadcast live on the French League Plus platform." This decision aims to secure both events.
While the match retains its venue at Stade Jean Bouin, the change will allow for the smooth organization of the marathon, which sees widespread participation and passes through vital streets of the capital, without traffic or security obstacles resulting from the anticipated crowd for the football match. Sources also confirmed that the coordination between sports and security bodies aimed to maintain the continuity of local competitions while adhering to the logistical measures required for major events in the city.
