Monaco Fined €25,000 Per Match Due to Coach Bocognoli's License
AS Monaco's management is currently facing substantial financial penalties because head coach Sébastien Bocognoli does not possess the required coaching certificate to lead a team in France's Ligue 1.
Bocognoli was appointed last October, succeeding coach Adi Hütter, but he still lacks the necessary certification to oversee top-flight teams. This requires the club to pay a fine of €25,000 for each match the team plays in national competitions, according to L'Équipe.
After 17 matches played so far, including 14 in Ligue 1 and three in the Coupe de France, the accumulated bill has reached €425,000. These costs are projected to climb to €750,000 by the end of the season.
In an attempt to circumvent this rule, AS Monaco considered registering assistant coach Damien Perinelle as the head coach on the match sheet. However, this move proved ineffective, as Perinelle also lacks the required certificate and is still undergoing training.
The management has since abandoned this maneuver and has accepted the imposed financial penalty. They clarified that they "were always aware of the necessity to pay a fine since Sébastien Bocognoli's arrival" at the club. Monaco currently sits tenth in the Ligue 1 standings.
