Pedri's Potential Return to Barcelona and Gavi's Injury Update
Coach Hansi Flick has confirmed the potential return of Barcelona midfielder Pedri for next Sunday's match against Levante at Spotify Camp Nou. This comes after a month-long absence due to a hamstring injury. Flick expressed his hope of giving the Spanish international some minutes in the upcoming fixture.
In the same context, Flick provided an update on Gavi's condition, noting that he has returned to training with the group for the first time since undergoing knee surgery last September. Regarding Pedri, Hansi Flick stated: “He might be able to play for a few minutes on Sunday, but the positive thing is that he is already training with the group and he is a very important player for us. He is a different leader thanks to his quality and can be one of those leaders in the future of this club.”
However, the coach clarified that Gavi has not yet received medical clearance to participate in competitive matches, emphasizing a gradual approach to his recovery process. Flick said concerning Gavi: “We will take it step by step. In this situation, it is very important to manage it step by step. I hope he returns very soon, but step by step, we will work every day, and everyone helping him is doing a great job.”
