Disciplinary Committee Upholds El Yamiq Suspension; Real Zaragoza to Appeal Again!

Spanish club Real Zaragoza announced that the one-match suspension for Moroccan defender Jawad El Yamiq has been upheld. This follows his red card incident during last week's 1-1 draw against Eibar in the Spanish Segunda División.

In an official statement released today, Wednesday, the club clarified that the Disciplinary Committee rejected the appeals submitted by the club regarding El Yamiq's sending off. The committee deemed the sanction to be based on the referee's report, despite the club's objections to the interpretation of the events compared to what actually transpired on the pitch.

Nevertheless, Real Zaragoza emphasized in the statement that it will immediately file an appeal with the Appeals Committee, seeking to overturn the red card and its subsequent penalty. The club indicated what it perceives as a "clear material error" in the assessment of the incident.

The statement also noted that the club had previously expressed "deep dissatisfaction with what occurred at the Ipurua stadium," conveying its concern about the recurrence of such situations which, according to the club, cause sporting, social, and economic damage to the team.

Real Zaragoza affirmed its full respect for referees and regulatory bodies but called for a stricter and more consistent application of competition regulations to preserve "the prestige of the competition and the respect of the fans."
