Real Zaragoza Appeals Jawad El Yamiq's Red Card Against Eibar
Spanish club Real Zaragoza has announced it will file an official appeal with the Competition Committee to contest the direct red card received by their Moroccan defender, Jawad El Yamiq, during the 1-1 draw against Eibar in Week 25 of the Spanish Second Division.
According to a club statement, the appeal will be accompanied by documents and video evidence clarifying the controversial incidents at the end of the match. The club aims to overturn El Yamiq's red card, which they believe was unjust.
The incident occurred in the 90+3rd minute when the referee showed El Yamiq a red card following an altercation with Eibar player Alex Garrido. The action was deemed an off-the-ball assault, as stated in the match report.
It is worth noting that El Yamiq, who joined Real Zaragoza earlier this week, was central to yesterday's match. He scored his team's opening goal, then conceded an own goal that brought Eibar level, and subsequently received a red card just before the final whistle.
