Zabiri: Ait Boudlal's Presence at Rennes Will Aid Quick Adaptation; My Goal is to Play as Much as Possible
Moroccan Yassir Zabiri expressed his delight at joining French club Stade Rennais following his transfer during the winter transfer window.
In an interview with the club's official channel, Zabiri said: "I am very happy to join Stade Rennais. It's a good club, not a small team; everyone knows it." He added: "I've known Stade Rennais since I was young. I watched Ousmane Dembélé and other players who played here, so I've known this club for a long time."
The Moroccan player affirmed his great enthusiasm for the move, stating: "I was very excited to join Stade Rennais because it's a good club for me to develop and learn. God willing, I will do great things here."
Zabiri revealed that he consulted with fellow Moroccans Nayef Aguerd and Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal before making his decision. He explained: "I spoke with Aguerd, and he told me I could go there, that it's a good club for me." He continued: "Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal's presence here is good for me to adapt quickly."
The player further elaborated: "Ait Boudlal told me it's a good club, and as you can see, he was born in 2006 and is playing, so I thought, 'Why not go there?' It's a good club for me to give my all."
Zabiri also mentioned his consistent follow-up of the team's matches, stating: "Throughout the season, I followed Stade Rennais' matches because Ait Boudlal plays here."
"I always follow the matches of all my Moroccan friends who play in France, Portugal, or anywhere else," Zabiri added.
Regarding the French league, he said: "Honestly, Ligue 1 is a very beautiful league, featuring big teams. All matches are strong and difficult, with high intensity and many challenges." He affirmed: "I am very excited to play here."
He continued: "If I came to play in the French league, I wanted to join a team that plays football, which is why I liked Stade Rennais. I know it's a team that plays well and delivers good performances."
Regarding his technical attributes, Zabiri stated: "I am a somewhat technical player. I like to drop back to receive the ball, and I like to help the team when it's under pressure, playing one-two passes. I am a forward, and I must score goals, but if I don't score, I must help the team as much as possible."
Concluding his remarks, Zabiri revealed his goals with the team, saying: "My goal is to integrate quickly with the group and feel like I'm part of a family, not just with Abdelhamid but with all the players. I want to play as much as possible and help the team, so that, God willing, we can reach the Europa League."
