Santos: 'Tomorrow's Match is Crucial; We Seek First CAF Champions League Victory'
Alexandre Santos, coach of AS FAR, emphasized the significance of the upcoming match against JS Kabylie in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League group stage, and its role in the military team's journey in the continental competition.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Santos stated that the game is "very important; mathematically it's not decisive, but it's important as an objective." He added that it would be "difficult because it's a clash between two teams with great quality players and a rich history."
The coach noted that his team's group is "balanced, perhaps the most balanced and capable group, and some teams truly deserve to advance to the quarter-finals."
Santos added: "In the last match, we secured a point, but it wasn't enough for our objective. It was a difficult game, but all the players left the field feeling frustrated because we had the possibility to win, and we had the chance to get the three points."
The AS FAR coach explained that the most important thing now is "to enter with full strength to win the match, as this is crucial for our objective. Even if we don't have more points right now, the goal is the same – always to win. But we know that tomorrow's victory is decisive for our journey in the CAF Champions League."
Santos added that the team works weekly on finishing attacks and improving effectiveness, affirming: "Some players are more effective than others, but our players are serious and work every day to score goals." He concluded: "We believe strongly in our players. The most important thing is that our players will deliver a great performance tomorrow, they will win, and they will achieve their first deserved victory in the CAF Champions League. We have done a lot of work over two months, and I have confidence in my team's players."
