Idrissa Gana Gueye Refutes Teammate Over Senegal Poisoning Rumors: "We Always Travel With Our Own Chef"

Senegal national team midfielder, Idrissa Gana Gueye, has come forward to clarify matters and put an end to rumors regarding the possibility of players from the "Teranga Lions" suffering from food poisoning during their stay in Morocco, ahead of facing Morocco in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

In response to these speculations, the Everton player affirmed that the national team received meticulous nutritional care throughout the tournament. He noted that the team brought its own private chef to prepare their meals, and that all players consumed good and well-regulated food, which makes the hypothesis of poisoning incorrect.

Gueye told Senegalese channel "Feeling Dakar": "In every tournament, our own chef comes with us. We ate well."

Gueye's statement came to refute his Senegal national team colleague, Ismaïla Jakobs, who had stated after the Africa Cup of Nations final: "I don't have all the evidence, but I suspect that three of our players were poisoned, and it wasn't just ordinary food poisoning causing vomiting or anything else."
