Senegal's President Unabashedly Praises Team: 'Our Players Won Bravely... With Exemplary Sportsmanship'
Senegal's President, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, seemingly witnessed a different Africa Cup of Nations 'Morocco 2025' final than the one the entire world watched, which was marred by a major scandal. This controversy arose after his country's team threatened to withdraw in protest of the referee's decisions, particularly the awarding of a correct penalty to the Moroccan national team.
Speaking during the reception of the Senegalese national team delegation, President Faye stated: "The Lions have held our heads high by fulfilling the promise they made to us."
He continued, unabashedly: "They achieved victory bravely, presenting magnificent football. They did so with exemplary sportsmanship, both on and off the field."
He concluded his speech by saying: "They have deeply moved us with strong emotions. For our part, we promised them that we would engage with every step they take, and that we would support and encourage them to achieve glory."
