CAF Strongly Condemns Incidents at Africa Cup of Nations Final, Announces Official Investigation
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has strongly condemned the unacceptable behaviour displayed by some players and officials following the conclusion of the Africa Cup of Nations final, which pitted the Moroccan and Senegalese national teams against each other.
In an official statement, CAF affirmed that any inappropriate conduct occurring during matches, especially actions targeting refereeing staff or match organizers, is unequivocally rejected and contradicts the values and spirit of football.
The body further explained that it has initiated a review of all video footage related to the incidents witnessed during the final. It noted that the case would be referred to the competent authorities within the continental federation to take appropriate disciplinary action against anyone found to be involved in these behaviours.
The African football governing body emphasized its strict commitment to enforcing regulations and protecting the integrity of competitions, asserting that such conduct has no place in African football.
