Flick Confirms Ter Stegen Loan to Girona, Calls Him 'One of the Club's Symbols'
Hansi Flick, head coach of Spanish club Barcelona, has confirmed the transfer of goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to Girona FC on a one-season loan deal.
Flick stated that Ter Stegen is leaving the club with Barcelona's full appreciation and respect, despite previous reports suggesting tension and attempts by Barcelona to encourage him to seek a new club last summer.
Flick emphasized, "This is Marc's decision. He knows exactly what he wants. We have spoken several times. I also spoke with Deco (the sporting director) about what could happen, but I don't have additional information. Even if Marc is loaned out, he will remain our captain. He is one of the club's symbols. This is his decision, and we will accept it."
The coach affirmed that Ter Stegen will retain Barcelona's captain's armband even while on loan, reflecting his status and importance within the Catalan club.
