Gavi in Jeddah to Support Barcelona; Coach Hansi Flick Wears His Shirt in Solidarity
Barcelona midfielder Gavi is currently in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to support his teammates during the Spanish Super Cup final.
Gavi continues his recovery from surgery he underwent last September for a meniscus injury in his right knee, as he follows his treatment program.
In a gesture of solidarity, coach Hansi Flick showed his support for Gavi by wearing his No. 6 shirt. Flick wore the jersey during the semi-final match against Athletic, using the fourth kit which commemorates a 3-0 El Clásico victory at the Santiago Bernabéu in November 2005. The coach also wore Gavi's shirt in the derby match on January 3.
Despite Gavi's desire to return to the pitch sooner, the club expects him to rejoin the squad next February. The club will not rush his recovery process due to the serious previous injuries the player has sustained.
