Carvajal Discusses Spanish Super Cup Final and Future
Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal spoke to the media ahead of the highly anticipated Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona in Jeddah.
Carvajal stated: “Tomorrow is an important day for us, we want to bring this title home.” He added regarding his personal ambition: “On a personal level, it’s also important for me to equal Luka Modric as the player with the most titles in the club’s history.”
Carvajal expressed his hope for Kylian Mbappé’s participation, who is suffering from a minor knee injury, saying: “Kylian is a very important player for us, he is the best striker in the world and we hope he will be on the pitch tomorrow because he can be decisive.”
In another context, he touched upon coach Xabi Alonso, affirming: “I see Xabi as calm, with clear ideas... but we will die for him.”
Carvajal also addressed his contract situation, with less than six months remaining, noting: “If the club and I agree, there will be no problem.” He recalled a complex past operation, which involved a serious injury and a new surgery where six or seven structures in his knee were adjusted.
Commenting on his semi-final clash with Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone, he said: “We simply have mutual respect. We both defend our club to the death.” He also gave his opinion on Lamine Yamal’s behavior, stating: “Lamine is young and I think he wasn’t entirely right in the days leading up to the Clásico.”
