Wael Gomaa: Hossam Hassan's Actions 'Inappropriate' and Created 'Animosity with Moroccan People'

Former Egyptian international Wael Gomaa stated that some incidents during the tournament were embarrassing and did not befit the name of the Egyptian national team. He expressed his displeasure with the way things were handled following the loss to Senegal.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Wael Gomaa said: "I blame the Egyptian national team's reaction after the defeat, and Hossam Hassan kept referring to the number of championships throughout the tournament."

Gomaa affirmed that Egypt is a great country in many fields, but such actions diminish its value and open the door to questioning its achievements. He stressed: "The Moroccan people are respected, and what we did created animosity with them, which is a black mark on the national team."

Regarding the future of the technical staff, Gomaa clarified that Hossam Hassan will continue as coach of the Egyptian national team until the World Cup, stating: "The general outlook confirms that Hossam Hassan will continue, as there is no convincing reason to dismiss him at the present time."
