
Graafstrom (FIFA Secretary General): "Organizing Africa Cup in Morocco Reflects African Football Development and Kingdom's Readiness to Host Major Events"
Matthias Grafstrom, Secretary General of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), has lauded Morocco's organization of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, currently underway in the Kingdom. Grafstrom described the African tournament as a powerful reflection of the continent's increasing footballing excellence and organizational capabilities, commending the quality of Morocco's hosting.
Speaking during a meeting with African journalists in the Moroccan capital, Rabat, Grafstrom stated, "It was an honor for me to watch some of the Africa Cup of Nations matches, and it was a wonderful experience both organizationally and sportingly." He emphasized that Morocco has affirmed its readiness to host major international tournaments.
The FIFA Secretary General added, "The tournament has truly demonstrated Morocco's experience as an AFCON host, which is also good because they host the FIFA office in Africa." He reaffirmed FIFA's long-term commitment to developing African football and underscored the importance of cooperation with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), member associations, and the media in driving sustainable growth.
Grafstrom concluded, "FIFA is here to invest, develop, and work hand-in-hand with CAF, member associations, and the media to make African football great." He also stressed the crucial role of media in shaping football development across the continent, calling for openness and transparency in communication.
