Petkovic: We Will Play with Necessary Intensity Against Title Contenders
Algerian national team coach Vladimir Petkovic affirmed that his side will approach upcoming matches with intensity against all teams considered contenders for the Africa Cup of Nations title. His remarks came after Algeria secured their place in the quarter-finals of the tournament with a 1-0 victory over DR Congo.
Speaking to the press after the match, Petkovic stated, “It was a strong match from both teams. I believe we deserved to win given what our players delivered, and I thank them for that. We controlled two-thirds of the game and played good football, even though we faced some problems during the encounter.”
He continued, “We played well as a group and dominated the match. We overcame difficulties, scored a goal, and managed to win and qualify. I believe we handled the game professionally.”
Petkovic concluded, “It was important to qualify and then think about the next match against Nigeria. We will prepare for the upcoming fixture in our usual way. We will play with the necessary intensity against the teams nominated to win the title, and we will work to impose our style of play in the match.”
