Desabre on Algeria Clash: "We Have the Strength and Character to Compete with Continent's Giants"

Sebastien Desabre, head coach of the Democratic Republic of Congo national team, has expressed strong belief in his side's chances of overcoming Algeria in their highly anticipated Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16 clash.

Speaking to the media, Desabre emphasized that his players possess the necessary experience and character to compete with the continent's top teams. He recalled the positive results the Congolese national team previously achieved against formidable opponents, including Cameroon and Nigeria, during World Cup qualifying playoffs.

Desabre considered these past successes a source of additional confidence ahead of the Algeria encounter, stating: "We have previously faced big teams and achieved excellent results, and this gives us greater confidence in our ability to compete."

The French coach explained that the match against Algeria would be different in terms of atmosphere and circumstances, describing it as a strong and exciting encounter. He added: "We understand the magnitude of the challenge, and we will work to prepare the players optimally to perform well and achieve a positive result."

The Democratic Republic of Congo concluded the group stage with a convincing three-nil victory over Botswana in their final match. However, this win was not enough to secure the top spot in Group D.

The Congolese team settled for second place behind Senegal, having finished level on points but trailing due to goal difference, thus setting up their awaited encounter with Algeria in the continental tournament's Round of 16.
