Ferjani Sassi: 'I Hope an Arab Nation Wins AFCON 2025 Title'

Tunisian international Ferjani Sassi affirmed that his national team achieved its primary objective by securing qualification for the round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, while also expressing his wish for an Arab nation to lift the continental trophy.

Speaking to "On Sport" channel, Ferjani Sassi stated: "We achieved our goal by qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations round of 16. We wanted to defeat Tanzania and score goals, but the most important thing is that we qualified."

Sassi added: "Now we want to deliver a strong performance in the match against Mali, and the Tunisian national team is capable of going far in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations."

He continued: "I respect the ambitions of the Tunisian fans, but football requires realism. We know that expectations are high, but we must be realistic in our analyses. Our first goal, which was to qualify for the round of 16, has been achieved. If we were to follow only the desires of the public, we would have to win every match by four or five goals."

Ferjani Sassi concluded by saying: "I hope an Arab national team wins the Africa Cup of Nations title in this edition."

It is worth noting that the Tunisian national team will face Mali in the AFCON 2025 round of 16 next Saturday, starting at 8:00 PM (GMT+1).
