Claude Le Roy Defends Regragui: "I'm Surprised a Coach Who Led a Team to the World Cup Semifinals Faces Such Criticism in His Own Country"
French coach Claude Le Roy has defended Walid Regragui, the coach of the Moroccan national team, following a wave of criticism he has faced since the start of the Africa Cup of Nations.
In press statements, Le Roy said: "I am surprised that a coach who led a national team to the World Cup semifinals, and delivered many great performances and quality matches, is subjected to all this criticism in his own country."
He added: "I believe coaching the Moroccan national team is very difficult, especially when the coach is Moroccan."
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team faces Zambia tonight (20:00 GMT+1) at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, aiming to finish top of their group.
