Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi addressed the disappointed Moroccan fans following the draw against Mali in the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations. Speaking on Sunday at the pre-match press conference, Hakimi stated: "Against Mali, we played a great match against a strong team with good players. The Africa Cup is not easy, and we have seen other teams play big matches. I know that the fans and journalists are very demanding; they want Morocco to always win and believe the task is easy. However, this AFCON will not be easy."

He added: "We are working well, and with each match, we gain more confidence. We know we need to improve, and that's what we are doing. The coach is doing a great job. We are happy, and tomorrow you will see a better Moroccan team. We need our fans and journalists."

Hakimi concluded by saying: "I didn't like what happened at halftime in the first and second matches. When we play in our country, we need everyone's support. We know you want us to decide matches in the first half, but we must respect our opponents. We must remain united if we want to win this cup."

Regarding the decision to organize the Africa Cup of Nations every four years, Achraf Hakimi commented: "I think it's a good thing, as everyone will become eager to participate in the tournament. Organizing it every two years doesn't give it its true value."
