Tunisian Wahbi Khazri Announces Retirement from Football
Tunisian international Wahbi Khazri has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34, concluding a distinguished career that spanned over a decade in the French league.
Khazri, an attacking midfielder, had been without a club since his departure from Montpellier last summer. Throughout his career, he represented prominent teams such as Bordeaux, Saint-Étienne, and Bastia.
Speaking on Canal+ on Friday evening, Khazri stated: "It's time to announce the end of my football career. It's a past that gave me a lot, and I, in turn, gave a lot to it." He continued, "I'm overcome with strong emotions, and I didn't expect to react this way. I thank my family, my loved ones, and my teammates who gave me so much. I also thank the clubs that placed their trust in me, and Tunisia, without whom I wouldn't have been able to play in the World Cup. A chapter closes."
