Trabelsi After Palestine Match: "A Draw with the Taste of Defeat, Conceded Two Goals from Naive Mistakes"
Sami Trabelsi, coach of the Tunisian national team, made strong statements following the thrilling 2-2 draw against Palestine in the second round of the group stage of the 2025 Arab Cup. He affirmed that the result "tasted like a defeat" despite an improved performance compared to the previous match.
Trabelsi stated in the press conference: "It's a draw with the taste of defeat. We delivered a better performance, but we conceded two goals from naive mistakes and repeated the same blunders, especially in the sequence leading to the second goal, which we didn't handle as required."
The Tunisian coach explained that their participation in the tournament was "compulsory," adding: "We have a group of key players, and we had two options: either participate with an U23 team or compete with the current squad, which is a gamble. However, we still have a glimmer of hope for qualification."
The Tunisian national team raised its tally to one point, placing them third in the group, while the Palestinian national team strengthened its position at the top of Group A with four points, alongside Syria.
