Owen Criticizes Salah: "Enjoy Representing Your Country at AFCON... You Shouldn't Have Said What You Said Publicly"

Former England star Michael Owen has sent a strong message to Egyptian international Mohamed Salah following controversial statements about his situation at Liverpool, as Salah prepares to join his national team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Owen posted on his X account, addressing Salah directly: "I can imagine how you feel. You have carried this team for a long time and won everything there is to win. But ultimately, it's a team game, and you cannot say what you said publicly."

The former Liverpool star added: "You're off to the Africa Cup of Nations in a week... Surely you could have just swallowed it, enjoyed representing your country, and then seen what happens when you get back."
