Professional League to Initiate Legal Action Over Zumrat's Accusations Against Redouane Jiyed
The National Professional Football League has decided to file an official complaint with security and judicial authorities, calling for a thorough investigation into serious statements made by Abdelwahed Zumrat, the resigned coach of Ittihad Touarga. Zumrat directly accused Redouane Jiyed, the director of the refereeing department, of interfering in match officials' decisions during national competitions.
The League's decision follows the significant controversy sparked by Zumrat's remarks, in which he spoke of “external” interferences in the operation of VAR technology. The League views these accusations as undermining the integrity of national refereeing and the credibility of the entire football system, necessitating an urgent investigation to uncover the facts and assign legal responsibilities.
In his statement, Zumrat asserted that the refereeing errors affecting his team were not accidental. He highlighted “external interferences” during matches, including referees allegedly receiving phone calls from Redouane Jiyed, the director of refereeing, during games. Zumrat considered this as evidence of “direct influence” on refereeing decisions.
