Wahbi: Morocco Needs to Improve Goal-Scoring Efficiency, Players Not at Peak Readiness Against Norway
Morocco national team coach Mohamed Wahbi emphasized the need to improve offensive performance in matches, following their 1-1 friendly draw against Norway as part of their World Cup preparations. He noted that some players did not perform at the required level.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Wahbi stated: "It was an interesting match. We wanted to play against a team of this caliber to have such a strong game. We are very pleased with what we presented and with the strength of the opponent."
He added: "We finished the match with some players who had to leave due to injury, which is a bit concerning for us. However, we will see what happens tomorrow and the day after to accurately diagnose their conditions. Other than that, we showed that we are a strong team, one that knows exactly what it wants to achieve on the field and has clear ideas."
He continued: "We also showed a lot of resilience in the final minutes. Despite all the changes that occurred, which is not easy for the players, we displayed strong character and great cohesion. Thankfully, we leave this match satisfied with our performance, even though we wanted to win. We need to improve our effectiveness in front of goal, and I believe we will become more efficient; I am convinced of that."
Wahbi concluded: "What we only need is more consistency and stability in our performance. This was our first match in the United States, and under conditions that were not entirely ideal for a first encounter. Therefore, we must also accept that the players were not at their best possible readiness. There are some small details that need adjustment, but I am not worried about that. We know we are capable of scoring many goals."
