Adel Ramzi: 'Morocco Has Cemented Global Status, Time to Build Football Identity'
Former Moroccan international Adel Ramzi, coach of the Netherlands U19 national team, affirmed that Morocco has emerged as one of the rising football powers on the international stage. This comes after successfully establishing its position among major global teams, thanks to the results achieved in recent years.
Speaking in an interview with the Dutch website "Voetbal International," Ramzi stated: "Morocco is now firmly established on the global football map, having shown significant development as a footballing nation. This was embodied by reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup and winning the Africa U23 Cup of Nations, which the Kingdom hosted."
He added: "Morocco's success in organizing major events is due to its high-quality infrastructure, strong fan presence, and the great interest shown by His Majesty King Mohammed VI in developing sports and football."
Ramzi pointed out that football constitutes an essential part of Moroccan society's identity, saying: "Football is a true institution in Morocco, and the great passion for this game has always contributed to the emergence of players with distinctive technical abilities."
He continued: "There is continuous development at both tactical and organizational levels, whether within clubs or at the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. One only needs to look at the results of the senior national team and age-group teams to observe the extent of progress achieved."
The Moroccan coach emphasized the necessity of working to build a specific football identity for Morocco, explaining: "We must develop the Moroccan school of football. We are on the right track, but we must continue working to establish an identity based on technical and offensive football."
He added: "The presence of highly experienced players such as Achraf Hakimi, Yassine Bounou, and Noussair Mazraoui represents real added value for the national team."
Ramzi concluded: "We possess all the necessary components to deliver beautiful, strong, and high-quality football. This is what the Moroccan public expects, as they have become more ambitious after recent successes, especially with the approach of the 2030 World Cup."
