Argentina Coach Scaloni: "Morocco Will Be Among World Cup Contenders"
Lionel Scaloni, coach of the Argentine national team, affirmed that the Moroccan national team has become one of the most prominent contenders for the World Cup title, praising the level displayed by the "Atlas Lions" on the international stage in recent years.
In an interview with Argentine newspaper "Olé", Scaloni said: "In the World Cup, it's normal to have strong teams nominated to compete for the title, such as Argentina, Spain, France, Portugal, England, and Brazil, in addition to Morocco, Colombia, Uruguay, and Croatia."
He added: "I don't know who will win the tournament, but these teams will fight with all their might to reach the final match, and Morocco is among them thanks to the great development they have shown and their ability to challenge the strongest teams."
He continued: "The World Cup doesn't just depend on performance quality or team strength; there are many factors that influence the path of teams during the tournament, which makes the competition extremely complex."
The Argentine coach also highlighted the difficult path his national team took to win the 2022 World Cup title, stating: "We faced many obstacles, lost our first match, and struggled against the Netherlands and France. We were close to elimination on more than one occasion, even though we deserved to reach the final."
Scaloni concluded by emphasizing that small details and sometimes luck play a significant role in determining the fate of teams during the World Cup, regardless of the strength of the favorites.
