Medhi Benatia: 'Guardiola is a Magician... But He Doesn't Prioritize Human Relationships'
Former Moroccan international Medhi Benatia expressed his great admiration for Spanish coach Pep Guardiola, describing him as one of the most prominent tactical minds that revolutionized the world of football in the modern era.
Benatia said during his appearance on "The Bridge" program: "He is a magician; he revolutionized his era. After that, it's true that he doesn't attach much importance to human relationships, let's say that, and he says it himself. In one of our first meetings, he said: 'Medhi, I signed you for your defensive skills, that's what I needed, but I don't want friends, I don't care about emotions'."
He added: "Dealing with him was a bit more difficult. But it's hard to say he's not a good coach, given what he has done and continues to do. He has adapted well to the Premier League, but on a personal level, I wouldn't go on holiday with him."
Benatia played under Spanish coach Pep Guardiola after joining Bayern Munich from Roma in 2014 for approximately 30 million euros, where he won the Bundesliga title twice with him.
