Lautaro Martinez Closes Door on Barcelona, Expresses Desire to Retire at Inter
Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, alongside his club Inter Milan, has rejected the idea of moving to Spanish club Barcelona, a move that puts an end to reports linking him with the Catalan giants.
The player affirmed his clear desire to continue wearing the "Nerazzurri" shirt, citing his family's stability and great happiness in Italy. This definitively removes him from Barcelona's considerations for strengthening their attack in the upcoming transfer window.
Martinez explained that he aspires to retire within Inter's ranks, as long as the management does not wish for his departure. In this regard, Lautaro stated: "Without a doubt, I would like that. My family and I are happy here; we have our own restaurant, and our children go to school and have friends. It's hard for me to imagine myself anywhere else. Although no one knows what might happen in the future, I will stay here unless they kick me out," emphasizing the strong bond he shares with the club and the city.
In the same vein, Giuseppe Marotta, Inter's CEO, refuted all circulating news regarding his captain's departure. Marotta stated that "there is no truth to the rumors concerning Lautaro's transfer to Barcelona," effectively shutting down any attempts to sign the player. Meanwhile, Barcelona faces economic challenges and increasing pressure to find a replacement for striker Robert Lewandowski, whose recent departure left a void in the Spanish team's attack.
