Rayo Vallecano Coach Confirms Akhomach's Absence Against Girona, Reports Suggest Two to Three Weeks Out
Medical tests have confirmed that Moroccan international Ilias Akhomach, a Rayo Vallecano player, is suffering from a first-degree muscle tear in his left quadriceps. This injury is considered relatively minor but will keep him out of action for the coming weeks.
According to journalist Pablo Villa, who closely follows Rayo Vallecano news, the player's absence is estimated to be between two and three weeks. This means he will not be able to play any further La Liga matches this season with his team.
The player will work with the medical staff to accelerate his recovery process, hoping to be ready to participate in the Conference League final.
For his part, the Rayo Vallecano coach confirmed during the pre-match press conference ahead of the Girona clash that Ilias Akhomach would not participate in today's match. However, he added that Akhomach might be present in the final if the recovery process goes well.
Perez added: "Ilias has a muscle injury, and time is very tight. Alvaro Garcia went through the same situation, and we hope the same happens with Ilias." He continued: "He is upset because he sees the Conference League final approaching, and not being able to play hurts him a lot."
