Mourinho Sets Two Conditions for Real Madrid Return
The name of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho has once again topped Real Madrid news, after Spanish media reports revealed he is among the leading candidates to take charge of the Royal Club in the upcoming phase, amid increasing talk of anticipated changes within the club.
According to the Spanish newspaper "AS", Mourinho has set two main conditions for agreeing to return to the Santiago Bernabéu. The first condition is to gain greater powers regarding transfers, especially in identifying positions that need strengthening, as he believes the team suffers from certain deficiencies in its squad composition.
The second condition relates to reorganizing the first team's internal structure, with a clear definition of roles and responsibilities within the club, aiming to avoid the problems that emerged in the dressing room this season.
The same reports added that communications between Real Madrid's management and Mourinho are currently being handled through his agent, Jorge Mendes, while the Portuguese coach continues to focus on finishing his current season before making a final decision on his future.
On the other hand, Real Madrid will have a short window to finalize the deal without paying a significant sum. Mourinho's contract includes a clause allowing him to leave for only three million euros, applicable during the ten days following his team's last league match, scheduled for May 16.
Meanwhile, Benfica is actively working to retain their coach, having offered him a contract extension, given the positive results the team has achieved this season and their strong challenge for the Portuguese league title.
Real Madrid lost 2-0 to their traditional rivals Barcelona yesterday, Sunday, in a decisive match. Their points remain at 77 in second place, confirming a trophyless season and keeping their La Liga title count at 36.
