Halilhodžić Fails to Save Nantes as Club Officially Relegated to French Second Division
Nantes Football Club has been officially relegated to the French second division after suffering a one-nil defeat against hosts Lens on Friday evening, in a match played as part of the 33rd round of the French league.
Nantes' points tally remains at 23, placing them in 17th position (second to last), confirming their official relegation with one round remaining in the domestic league.
Vahid Halilhodžić took over as Nantes coach last March with the aim of getting the team back on track, following the dismissal of Moroccan coach Ahmed Kantari due to poor results. However, the Bosnian coach failed to achieve this mission.
It is worth noting that Nantes' squad includes Moroccan player Youssef El-Arabi, who participated in today's match as a substitute for his teammate Mathis Abline in the 82nd minute.
