Wydad Members Expose Board Statement 'Flaws,' Demand Immediate Resignation and Interim Committee
Members of Wydad Athletic Club have expressed their categorical rejection of the statement issued by the Board of Directors, deeming it an attempt to market a "booby-trapped resignation" under the guise of democracy, a move they described as "administrative absurdity."
In their statement, the members clarified that what was termed a "resignation" is merely "an attempt to postpone a decisive outcome and remain in a position of control until the General Assembly." They emphasized that "it is neither legally nor logically possible for a 'resigned' board to oversee the process of selecting its successor, as it would then become both judge and adversary simultaneously, fatally undermining the principle of neutrality."
The statement added that the opening of membership applications for the 2026/2027 season by a "departing" board raises numerous questions. They considered this step to "raise suspicions of an attempt to steer the electoral map through dubious interventions, aimed at leaving an 'illegitimate heir' who would ensure the continuation of the same failed approach."
The members further noted that the board deliberately "failed to specify a date for the elective General Assembly," describing this as "a tactic to gain time and control the timeline." They also viewed adherence to "the procedures in force within the club" as "a means to circumvent the law, as these are the same procedures that led to the current situation."
Concluding their statement, Wydad members outlined a set of urgent demands, most notably "the submission of an immediate and definitive resignation, and the formation of an independent interim committee to manage affairs away from the influence of the current board," in addition to "the immediate announcement of an official and near date for the elective General Assembly to ensure transparency."
They also called for "halting any suspicious membership processes and restricting membership within a clear legal framework that ensures equal opportunities," while also demanding "neutral legal oversight to ensure a genuine transfer of power that breaks away from controlling practices."
