Mourinho Settles Debate: "No One From Real Madrid Has Spoken To Me"
Benfica coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed that he has not received any contact from Real Madrid regarding the possibility of him taking over as coach, succeeding Álvaro Arbeloa.
Speaking at the press conference ahead of Benfica's match against Famalicão, Mourinho stated: "No, no one from Real Madrid has spoken to me, I assure you of that." He added that he is accustomed to such circulating news in the world of football but emphasized that there has been no official contact regarding the matter.
Regarding his future with Benfica, the Portuguese coach clarified that he is under contract for an additional year. He said: "Nothing. I cannot say more. There is nothing about Real Madrid, and concerning Benfica, the situation is clear: I have one year left on my contract, and that's it."
He also affirmed his full focus on the upcoming matches with his team, noting that his complete attention is on achieving positive results before considering any future matters.
Mourinho also spoke about the issue of managerial stability within clubs, explaining that staying for a long period helps build a strong and cohesive project, citing the experiences of major clubs that have relied on technical continuity.
Press reports had linked Mourinho's name to a possible return to coach Real Madrid, which he clearly denied during this statement.
