Real Madrid Excludes Ceballos Permanently Following Arbeloa Confrontation
Spanish club Real Madrid has excluded midfielder Dani Ceballos from the squad for the remainder of the current season, following a verbal confrontation with coach Álvaro Arbeloa that took place yesterday, Thursday, at the Valdebebas training ground.
This decision came after the player explicitly requested to cease all forms of interaction with his coach, prompting the Royal club's management to support Arbeloa's position and consider Ceballos' departure as the next step to definitively resolve the crisis.
Press reports indicated that Ceballos hinted at a deep personal disagreement with the coach. Dani Ceballos stated: "I asked the coach that there be no relationship between us." This stance led to his immediate exclusion from the squad for the match against Real Betis, with confirmation that he will not be called up for any upcoming fixtures until the end of the competitions. Notably, he has not featured in any official minute since returning from injury in early April, with his last appearance on the pitch dating back to February 21 against Osasuna.
In a related context, there is a prevailing belief within the Spanish club that the player sought to instigate this dispute to facilitate his departure and justify his prolonged absence from the starting lineup, despite signing a contract in 2023 that extends until 2027. While Real Betis remains the most attractive destination for the player from both an emotional and sporting perspective, this rupture comes a year after failed transfer negotiations to French club Olympique Marseille, making a summer departure inevitable.
