Member associations of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have unanimously agreed to support the re-election of Gianni Infantino as President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) for a new term spanning from 2027 to 2031.
This decision was made during a meeting held by CAF President Patrice Motsepe yesterday, Wednesday, in Vancouver, Canada, on the sidelines of the 76th FIFA Congress. Representatives from 54 member associations across various African countries attended the gathering.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to exchange views on the future of football at both continental and international levels. In his opening remarks, Motsepe emphasized the necessity of strengthening unity among member associations and highlighted the importance of supporting Infantino in the upcoming phase.
This unanimous endorsement comes at a crucial time for the FIFA President, who aims to extend his mandate and continue his efforts to develop African football and enhance its global presence. This move reflects the strong relationship between CAF and FIFA, opening broader horizons for joint cooperation that serves the best interests of the sport.
