
Rabat Hosts Opening Stage of 2025-2026 Morocco Duathlon Championship with Over 120 Athletes
Rabat hosted the opening stage of the 2025-2026 Morocco Duathlon Championship on April 26. Organized by the Rabat Ocean Triathlon Club under the supervision of the Royal Moroccan Triathlon Federation, the event saw extensive participation from over 120 athletes representing various national clubs.
This stage featured "Sprint" and "Super Sprint" format races, with participants across all age categories, from under 13 to seniors. This broad participation clearly indicates the expanding base of practitioners and the evolving structure of the sport in Morocco. Competing in a discipline that combines running and cycling, the athletes demonstrated remarkable technical and physical levels, reflecting continuous improvement in their performance.
Among the clubs, CMND Club made a strong impression, showcasing its stability and depth across various categories, particularly excelling in youth and female divisions. Assamine Club reaffirmed its position as a prominent contender, achieving distinguished results in the U23 and intermediate categories. Casablanca Triathlon Club also demonstrated its presence in multiple races, contributing to the competitive pace, alongside AX and TTT Clubs, which further intensified the competition and diversified participation.
The organizing club, Rabat Ocean Triathlon, distinguished itself not only through its highly praised organization, which received acclaim from all stakeholders, but also on the sporting front, despite having a limited number of participants compared to some other clubs.
The club achieved notable results, most notably a one-two finish in the senior men's category by Nabil Oussama and Krish Moussa, ahead of Nemssi from CMND Club, the previous edition's champion. Karamadi Adam also excelled in the U17 category, securing first place jointly with Ziad from the same club. Additionally, Lamcharki Aida claimed second place in the U19 women's category, and El Bakali Ali reached the podium, finishing third in the U15 men's category.
On the organizational front, the event received widespread praise for the seamless coordination among various stakeholders. The Wilaya of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, local authorities, national security services, civil protection, medical staff, along with volunteers and technical teams, all contributed to ensuring the competitions ran under ideal conditions regarding organization and safety.
In statements accompanying the event, Majed Amaharouk, President of the Royal Moroccan Triathlon Federation, affirmed that this stage is part of a national strategy to develop duathlon. This strategy involves supporting clubs, nurturing young talent, and making the sport accessible across various regions.
For his part, Cherif El Miffi, President of the Rabat Ocean Triathlon Club, emphasized that organizing this stage reflects the club's ambition to contribute to the sport's development and create momentum for talent discovery and inspiring future generations.
