Barcelona Rejects Rushing Yamal's Return, Informs Spanish Federation Not to Risk Him at Start of World Cup
The injury to young star Lamine Yamal has become one of the most pressing issues for Barcelona in the latter stages of the season, especially with the World Cup approaching. Yamal sustained a left hamstring injury during a league match against Celta Vigo, which will rule him out for the remainder of the current season. Despite this, initial indications suggest the player could still feature in the upcoming World Cup with the Spanish national team under coach Luis de la Fuente.
Spanish newspaper "Sport" revealed that an important meeting took place this week between Barcelona's sports committee and several physiotherapy specialists, including Raul Martinez and Fernando Galan, to discuss the player's condition and formulate a precise recovery plan.
The Catalan club confirmed it has established a clear roadmap for Yamal's rehabilitation, giving utmost priority to his health. The Spanish Football Federation has been informed of this plan, particularly regarding any potential risks associated with a rapid return to competition.
Barcelona is keen not to rush the player's return to avoid any relapse that could impact his sporting future, especially given the sensitive nature of the injury and the risk of recurrence. The club cited several past cases of players who suffered similar types of injuries.
The club is also considering carefully managing Yamal's participation at the start of the World Cup. He might be rested for some of the initial matches against Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, with the aim of being fully fit for crucial games, such as the encounter with Uruguay.
In any event, Barcelona asserts that it will not permit any risks that could jeopardize the player's well-being, focusing instead on preparing him in the best possible condition for the start of next season.
