Real Madrid Will Not Give Barcelona Guard of Honour If La Liga Decided Before El Clásico Due to 'Negreira Case'
The program "El Chiringuito" has revealed Real Madrid's stance on giving Barcelona a guard of honour in the upcoming Clásico, should the Catalan club secure the Spanish league title beforehand.
The same source confirmed that the Royal club has taken an official and definitive stance, refusing to perform a guard of honour for its traditional rival, Barcelona, due to what is known as the "Negreira case."
Real Madrid believes it is inappropriate to "recognize" Barcelona as Spanish league champions while the "Negreira case" remains ongoing in the courts without any judgment having been issued.
"El Chiringuito" also indicated that the strained relations between the two clubs in recent months have further influenced Real Madrid's position on performing a guard of honour, should Barcelona clinch the La Liga title before the Clásico.
Barcelona is scheduled to host Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, May 10th, with kick-off at 20:00 GMT+1.
