
Al Ahly Suffers Heavy 3-0 Defeat to Pyramids, Faces CAF Champions League Qualification Threat
Al Ahly suffered a heavy 3-0 defeat to Pyramids in a match played at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium. This fixture was part of the fourth round of the final stage of the Egyptian Premier League.
The encounter saw only one Moroccan player start, Mohamed Chibi for Pyramids. His teammate Walid El Karti came on as a substitute in the second half, as did Achraf Bencharki for Al Ahly.
Pyramids' three goals against Al Ahly were scored by striker Fiston Mayele in the 70th and 77th minutes, with Karim Hafez adding a penalty in the 94th minute.
This result allowed Pyramids to secure sole possession of second place in the league standings with 47 points, trailing leaders Zamalek who have 50 points. Al Ahly, meanwhile, sits in third place with 44 points and now faces the risk of failing to qualify for the CAF Champions League, with only three rounds remaining in the current season.
