CAF Confirms Two-Match Fan Ban (One Suspended) and $60,000 Fine for Al Ahly After AS FAR Incidents
Al Ahly Club has announced that it received official correspondence from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), detailing decisions issued by CAF's Disciplinary Committee. These decisions come in response to incidents that occurred during their match against AS FAR in the final group stage fixture of the African Champions League.
In an official statement, Al Ahly clarified that the Disciplinary Committee decided to ban the club's fans from attending two upcoming African matches, with the second match being a suspended sentence. The decision also included a financial fine of $50,000 imposed on the club.
The statement further added that the penalties included an additional fine of $10,000 due to the use of laser pointers during the match in question.
El Botola had previously reported that the committee was in the process of deciding to have Al Ahly play two matches behind closed doors, with one match's enforcement suspended should similar violations reoccur, in addition to imposing financial penalties.
Al Ahly concluded its statement by affirming that the club's legal department would take the necessary actions to address these decisions issued by CAF.
