Santos After Wydad Win: 'We Deserved This Result After a Very Good Match'
Alexandre Santos, coach of AS FAR, praised his players' performance following their 2-1 victory over Wydad AC in a postponed match from Week 9 of the Botola Pro Inwi. He emphasized that this win was a result of his team's collective effort and fighting spirit.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Santos stated: 'It was a great victory and a great display of teamwork. Our first message in the dressing room before the game was about the importance of collective work and team strength, and as you can see, it's not just the starting 11 players who are important, but the entire squad.'
The AS FAR coach added: 'We played very well. Of course, the match wasn't easy at the start, but we knew the goal would come. After scoring, we delivered a complete performance and dominated the game significantly.'
Santos continued: 'We had 60% possession, took more shots, and even in the first half, we created more scoring opportunities than our opponents. However, it's not easy to achieve this in Casablanca.'
The AS FAR coach also affirmed that his team put in a great effort throughout the match, adding: 'I believe that if we had scored the third goal, which we had the chance to do, it would have been fairer, and perhaps we wouldn't have suffered as much in the last ten minutes, which is normal.'
Santos also made sure to praise the fans who supported the team, stating: 'Congratulations also to the 2,000 people who came from Rabat to Casablanca to support and encourage us. Their support was fantastic.'
He concluded his statement by saying: 'We also achieved our main objective in the CAF Champions League, but now we have secured three points, and this is very important because the competition with Wydad for the top spots is clear.'
He finished: 'We deserve the result achieved today because we put in a great effort and played a very good match, and I am very happy with our players.'
