Militao Sidelined for Four Months, Misses World Cup
Spanish media reports have confirmed that Brazilian defender Eder Militao is set to undergo new surgery following a setback in his left hamstring tear. This officially rules him out for the remainder of the current season and excludes him from the squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Following medical complications that made surgical intervention unavoidable, Militao will be absent from upcoming commitments with both his club and national team, effectively ending his sporting year.
Medical examinations revealed that the Brazilian international is suffering from a specific injury to the biceps femoris muscle in his left leg. The results indicated a reopening of scar tissue from a previous injury he sustained last December during a match against Celta Vigo.
Despite having been sidelined for nearly four months earlier this season due to the same issue, the latest setback, which became apparent before the end of the first half in the match against Alaves, has exacerbated the defender's health situation. Militao has faced a series of severe injuries, including ACL tears in both 2023 and 2024.
In a related context, these absences represent a severe blow to the Brazilian national team, which is preparing for the 2026 World Cup. It has been confirmed that Militao will not be available to participate in the global tournament, which kicks off in a few weeks, with Spanish newspaper "AS" indicating that the defender will be sidelined for four months.
