Figo: "Real Madrid's Two-Year Trophy Drought is Concerning!"
Former Portuguese international Luís Figo stated on Monday that Real Madrid's failure to win any title for two years is a cause for concern. He noted that the "noise" surrounding the Royal Club is always amplified, and also expressed his desire for Atlético Madrid to win the Champions League title.
Figo explained in his remarks: "Everyone understands the nature of the season Real Madrid has had. With a change of coach, the team becomes unstable, and the search for accountability begins. I cannot speak in detail because I am not part of the dressing room, but as one of the best clubs, not winning a title for two years is concerning."
Figo pointed out that this situation "is strange for his former team because they are accustomed to winning." He added, however, that "you cannot always win. It would be too monotonous, and other teams have ambitions. But at Real Madrid, the noise is always greater, and now everyone will talk about the coach, who is to blame, and other matters that are not discussed inside the dressing room."
Figo also discussed two coaches rumored to be candidates for the Real Madrid job: José Mourinho, Benfica's coach, and French coach Didier Deschamps. Regarding Deschamps, Figo stated: "He possesses the necessary experience and personality to lead any team, including Spanish teams."
